🌟Chiropractic Helps 📖 Homework Time

Chiropractic and Homework

Kristina checking in here, fully refreshed and recharged after an awesome family vacation with a little #parentlife perspective.

To make sure we could get back in time to help out the skeleton crew we had running at PWC last week due to spring break, we took off a few days early the week before (which also helped beat the crowds a bit!). As such, the three older kids had quite a bit of homework they needed to wrap up tonight before we get back to school tomorrow.

The older kids especially had quite a bit of homework to do and maybe I shouldn’t be admitting this, but I didn’t help with any. Addison is 11 and very self sufficient and I didn’t even see her work. Oliver did all his homework with Addison checking his work afterwards. Yes, Addison is the double whammy of awesomeness in this equation. Unless you don't feel like being bossed around, that is not her strength. ;)

Does this homework magic that occurs have anything to do...

5 Qualities of Your Best Birth Team

birth pregnancy Mar 30, 2019

Selecting the right birth team is important to ensure that you have the support and encouragement you need to achieve your ideal birth.  When you take the wheel of your own birth journey, you empower yourself to experience the pregnancy and delivery that is right for you.  But how do you know how to pick the right team? I could really take the easy way out and just give you a list of providers that offer birth support such as: a midwife, doula, chiropractor, birthing classes, massage therapist, nutritionist, prenatal yoga instructor, lactation consultant, and the list goes on.  You could use every type of provider on that list but still be looking for more. Therefore, when choosing the right birthing team, you not only need to find the right birth workers, but the right people! What do I mean by the right people? When I was thinking about this, I asked myself what do I look for in my trusted healthcare providers, and I came up with a list of 5 important qualities that...

Drug-Free Help for Allergies and Asthma

There are few things more glorious then the moment we walk outside and have that first “spring is coming” feeling.  Do you feel it? It’s so close! Us Midwesterners are usually worn out enough that pretty much anything above freezing will do it for us!

The sun is peaking out longer, the negative temps might be gone for good and everyone seems to be taking a joyous sigh of relief! You can’t help but sneak a smile at the mom lugging her kids out of the car with bulky jackets, hats, and gloves galore because the days of getting in the car with just a spring jackets are almost here! We did it!! One more winter down!

But while it’s great to see the garage get cleaner and less cluttered, it seems our family schedule goes the opposite direction - more sports, more spring concerts, more school events, and so on! This time of year can certainly add some stress to the already jammed schedules...

Chiropractic Miracle Man

Oliver's birth is not one that I like to think about yet the guilt I carry still to this day means I think about it a lot. The guilt I had following his birth was so strong that I deleted every single picture and video of us. I was so mad I didn’t know he was sick and I was so angry at myself that I didn’t know my own son needed immediate medical attention.

I had a home birth that would have been picture perfect if Oliver came out breathing, but he didn't. He took so long to breathe after a crazy fast, tough birth that we called 911 and that "please take a breath" thought turned into a frantic panic when he started turning blue and still not a single breath.

The first cry of his is a sound I will never forget, so precious and so perfect. By the time the ambulance came Oliver was pink, showed great scores on his Apgar and was given the all clear by the paramedics. By the time they packed up their equipment and left we took our first breath of relief and let out a...

ADHD: There's More to the Story (and Science)

Whether your child has been formerly diagnosed or not, this article will help you get a far better understanding of not just what the challenges with ADHD are (which you already well know, since you are living with it), but more importantly what's behind it all. We'll take a deep dive into common case history findings seen with ADHD-challenged kids over 11+ years of clinical practice, and also open the hood and dive a bit into the science and neurology behind it all.

There is so much misinformation and misunderstanding about ADHD, and while this article cannot address each and every element, we'll start with the foundations and work from there.

This article is for you if you have a child who is constantly moving, constantly sensory seeking, impulsive, and wound up... or as we like to call it, constantly stuck on the "gas pedal" and fight or flight side of the nervous system. We have nicknamed these kids "Raging Bull"...

The moment I saw the positive result on a pregnancy test strip, my heart skipped a million beats. The moment we had been waiting for, for quite some time, had actually happened. At that very moment, I couldn’t think of anything else besides “Holy crap, I’m going to be a mom!”. Completely elated with joy and disbelief, I took about 12 more pregnancy tests, that week, just to make sure. I wasn’t a girl who dreamt of having babies. Not that I didn’t want them, I just didn’t even think about it. I thought it might happen one day, and when it does, I’ll figure it out then. I mean, so many people have done it before me and my friends have done it, so clearly I can do it. Then after a while, reality set in, “I’m growing a baby and somehow that baby has to come out of my body!” Truthfully that scared me. As a first time mom, I had NO IDEA what that was going to be like, or feel like; physically or emotionally, and the...
