Parents, it's time to Kick the Sick for your family!

We’ve had a bit of a late start to spring here, but for many kids and families that hasn’t slowed down the congestion, irritation, allergies, and immune challenges from already kicking into high gear.

While we often hear of “seasons” for certain immune issues, the truth is that for many families their kids seem to battle recurring ear infections, non-stop sinus congestion, and chronic coughs almost all year round. They just can’t seem to “kick it” for good.

It all adds up to way too many trips to the pediatrician or even immediate care, and let’s be honest, those are not places we want to head to right now if we don’t really have to.

You’ve tried the antibiotics, have the inhalers, have gotten rid of gluten and dairy, and have a whole army of essential oils and supplements taking over your cabinets!

But, your child still struggles and can’t “kick it” no matter what you try.

If that’s your crew,...

We Are So, So Ready for the New Normal

The "New Normal" is trending, as the cool kids say. It’s got to be the 3rd most said phrase behind the "Stay Home" and "Stay Safe" phrases. And I am in favor of the new normal. Here’s why. According to the CDC, currently of the children living in the United States:

9.4% have ADHD

1 in 54 have Autism (far higher in boys)

210,000 have Diabetes

The rate of Type 2 Diabetes increased by 21%

1 in 3 are Overweight

7.1% have been diagnosed Anxiety

Also as the kids say, WTH?

That’s our current normal.

That was the 'old' new normal before Covid, and do you think being locked at home without physical activity, sports, socializing, etc. has helped them eat healthier, get physically fit, and calm their ADHD and anxiety?

What we all know is that the last 2-3 months will have absolutely accelerated the chronic illness in kids "curve" even more, which is alarming and sad. Not sure what could be more news worthy either, but it barely...

Virtual Perfect Storm

Dear Parents (aka newly minted Teachers, Therapists, and Counselors),

We know it’s an extra stressful and difficult time for your family right now with the Covid-19 shut down. No one likes the challenges we all face right now, but families with sensory-challenged children are really feeling it.

On top of all the regular challenges faced each day by Sensory, Anxiety, and ADHD kiddos… now they’re missing that consistent structure of school, supportive therapies, regular social engagement, and just overall are on an upside-down routine each and every day.

It’s stress on top of stress.

Everyone is feeling it. Emotional and behavioral outbursts on the regular for both the kids and honestly, parents too. It’s not easy.

We’d like to at least make it easier to get the help you need. We have always offered our monthly Perfect Storm Parent Workshop live and in-person, but of course right now that’s off the table as well.

Therefore Dr. Tony and our...

What Stress Does to the Nervous System (and it's STRESSFUL right now) 😨😨

Wow. Right?! Just wow. It is a crazy time right now no matter where you are living. Here in McHenry County, we're entering our second month home of the shelter in place with our "back to life" date still unknown. That's tough. There's no way around the fact that things are filled with STRESS right now.

Unfortunately the added stressors to us all are not only in the forms of every day stress, but added finanical stress, e-learning stress, cooped up in the house stress, and really just stress that seems to be in the air right now. Want to know the #1 most dangerous thing to our health? Stress. And we're living it right now.

So the question becomes how do I follow the guidelines in place, stay home, AND take care of my health? That's where PWC comes in. We are offering a Wait List New Patient voucher for only $47.

With lots of experience caring for kids and families, we definitely notice extra stressful times bring extra sickness and struggles...

What do Dead Birds Have to do with Chiropractic?

The first few weeks of this Stay at Home order made me feel like I was pretty awesome.  I'm a homebody so the chance to not leave, no activities to rush to and the chance to wear my fav elastic pants all day. I was a little excited for it!  I had an organized schedule with great time blocks for work stuff and then e-learning stuff. I was organizing closets on the side and keeping up with three meals a day with some sweet snack breaks.

And then pretty quick things turned into not so awesome...

My balanced work times started to bleed into the scheduled school times. Meals turned into fend for yourself in the pantry, just no talking to me so I can finish up an important work task. Checking off school lessons as we go, turned into papers all over the place, not knowing what day it even is, and no idea if I'm even helping anyone or harming their learning at this point.

One week I'm giving advice on how to balance working from home and e-learning. The...
